Visitor Information

Council Grove, one of the most historical towns in Kansas, was a favorite spot to gather on the Santa Fe Trail.  For many years Council Grove was the furthest west point to which small wagon trains and individual travelers could safely travel. Council Grove became the pre-eminent rendezvous point for wagon trains to band together before heading west.

Looking for a place to stay?  Several family members will be at Prairie Lodge Motel and remaining rooms are limited.  Here is a link to several hotels in the area:  PLACES TO STAY or in Emporia.

There are many fun things to do in the Council Grove.  Interested in visiting some historic sites or a house restaurant built in 1857 by Daniel Boone’s great grandson, Seth Hayes?
